Padre Rohr Apartment

A cozy renovation that maximizes spaces

Room opens closes.gif

In our search for an place to call our home, we found this apartment in a prime location, but with very limited space and no attractive views. These challenges led us to develop a design where the focus of the apartment would be its interior, maximizing the spaces to create a cozy place with a lot of personality.

Originally, the small rooms were all detached, with not enough natural light and ventilation. Therefore, we decided to remove the dividing wall between the kitchen and the living room, creating a single living space and bringing more natural light into the kitchen, which was previously quite dark. In addition, we decided to integrate the previously small balcony, thus increasing the apartment's interior space and creating a reading and relaxation area.

To replace the old ceramic flooring, we salvaged 65 square meters of solid wood parquet blocks that were about to be discarded. Using this flooring completely transformed the apartment, making the space much more welcoming, and giving a new lifecycle to this noble and timeless material.

The bathroom was completely remodeled, and the tiles layout defined all the dimensions of the space. We took advantage of the sloping wall in the shower to create a sitting bench, making bathing even more relaxing. Also, the custom-made towel rack integrates perfectly into the wall tiles.
